Kyle Johanesson is a communications and digital media professional specializing in municipal engagement, strategic storytelling, and community-focused marketing. As Community Relations and Digital Media Coordinator for Monroe Township, New Jersey, he leads initiatives that strengthen resident connection, expand digital reach, and modernize how local government communicates with the public.
Since joining Monroe Township’s communications team, Kyle has played a key role in managing digital platforms, supporting public information campaigns, and executing outreach strategies that enhance transparency and civic participation. His work sits at the intersection of public service, marketing strategy, and emerging media.
In addition to his municipal role, Kyle serves as an appointed Commissioner on the Monroe Township Historic Preservation Commission and as a Board Member of the Jamesburg Historic Association. In these positions, he applies digital tools and creative programming to preserve local history while making it accessible and engaging for modern audiences.
Kyle began building his communications foundation early, serving as a Media Assistant with the AWC-NJ and as a Communications Assistant on a New Jersey gubernatorial campaign. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from Rutgers University and an Associate’s degree in Communications from Mercer County Community College.
Outside of his public sector work, Kyle is the author of the historical fiction novels Eyes of a Spore (2023) and Medicine of the Prophet (2025), reflecting his deep commitment to narrative craft, historical research, and long-form storytelling.
